Table VII
Each month, Rogo hosts exclusive dinner events for some of the leading names in finance. These dinners are a place for deep, forward-thinking conversations about the future of AI and finance. When Rogo asked me to create a brand and name for this series, the goal was to ensure every design decision reflected an elegant, exclusive experience. I developed Table VII, inspired by the Ancient Greek symposium and designed to elevate conversation through thoughtful branding, editorial design, and tactile physical assets.
The name for the dinner series, as proposed, is Table VII. This is inspired by the Symposium of the Seven Sages, Plutarch’s dialogue that captures the conversation of the seven wisest men in Greece.
I found inspiration for the wordmark’s unique features at a church in Rovinj, Croatia.
Menus are personalized to the attendee, event theme, and restaurant.
In addition to the wordmark, a coin motif is used in specific places to represent Table VII. The coin features an amphora – a symbol of prosperity – along with the Rogo parent logo and VII.
The coin will be shown with its other side for specific dinner events. The other side is dynamic: it changes depending on the specific dinner’s theme or occasion. For example, this coin of a man wearing a laurel would be used for a dinner centered around leadership.
The brand utilizes an intricate woven border across assets. Not only does this border nod to classical Greek patterns, but it is derived from Rogo’s primary logo.
To balance the austerity of the logo and type system, I looked towards Dutch paintings of food for imagery. Though these paintings don’t feature people, they are full of life. From juicy fruit to crumbling cheese, these images capture the pleasure and fun of going out to eat.
The color palette consists of warm, rich tones to embody the sophistication and taste of these events – and to further differentiate Table VII from LinkedIn networking events. Each color is inspired by the the Dutch palette.
