DISCOVERY
To craft an authentic and enduring brand for AccelR8 Ventures, I knew design had to begin with research. I wanted to comprehensively understand the fund’s ethos and clearly identify their key differentiators from other climate VC firms.

I held discovery sessions with each team member, researched trends in the market, and ran competitive analysis against venture funds with similar portfolios.

KEY INSIGHTS
My research yielded three key insights:

1. The current climate investment market is saturated with overhyped tech that attracts attention, but don’t always deliver results.

2. The AccelR8 team is composed of scientists, meaning the investors understand the technology in their portfolio. Their approach is methodical and backed by data and science.

3. In climate technology, positive progress compounds. AccelR8 Ventures invests in companies engineered to unlock reinforcing loops of impact and profitability. They match climate solutions to market opportunity.

BRAND STATEMENT
AccelR8 Ventures’ pragmatic, systemic, research-forward approach shapes the core of the fund’s identity. The team’s science and business expertise mitigates the risk of investing early — enabling them to find profitable solutions to immediate climate problems. Their ability to scale climate technologies generates positive, compounding returns, reinforcing systems of both impact and growth.

VISUAL IDENTITY
After refining a strong brand statement, I began translating AccelR8 Ventures’ investment ethos into a visual identity.

The logo is inspired by the continuous impacts of AccelR8’s investments. Its geometry draws from physics diagrams and precise mathematical curves – a nod to the team’s scientific background.

Brand assets are built off the skeleton of the logo and capture its sense of momentum and compounding returns. To balance these curves, I defined out a strong grid system. This layout system reflects the team’s analytical, systematic approach to evaluating climate technologies.

The type system is composed of Tiempos and Untitled Sans, both by Klim Type Foundry. The color palette pulls inspiration from nature, but its muted, mature tones avoid “eco” clichés of pure blue and green.

NAMING
Originally, AccelR8 Ventures was called ACCELR8. After research, I found this name was misaligned with the fund’s pragmatic, “anti-hype” approach. I changed the name to AccelR8 Ventures to more accurately represent the team’s ethos. This naming refinement, paired with a clear brand identity statement, created a foundation the team could confidently use in investor conversations, founder outreach, and long-term growth.
